BLU, grandes muros, grandes mensajes.

Hace bastante tiempo que pongo trabajos de BLU, su último mural en el Draw The Line Festival, el que hizo en el FAME Festival o su genial video de animación MUTO, entre otras entradas. Pero ya iba siendo hora de dar un repaso a toda su obra, o al menos a toda la que podamos, por que es bastante extensa.

BLU, es un artista urbano de Bolonia (Italia), aunque su procedencia no es segura, así como su identidad que prefiere no hacer pública. Lleva mas de una década pintando grandes muros por todo el mundo, su estilo es único y rara vez utiliza el spray por lo que sus dibujos son grades lienzos pintados a base de brocha y rodillo.

BLU is a street artist from Bologna (Italy), although its origin is uncertain and their identity rather not make public. He takes more than a decade painting big walls all over the world, his style is unique and rarely uses the spray, so his pictures are big canvases drawn on brush and roller paint.

Las obras de BLU tienen doble valor, el indudable valor estético, cada una de sus pinturas embellece la fachada y la zona en la que están hechas, y su valor moral, todas sus obras llevan un mensaje implícito que normalmente es una crítica social y una llamada a la reflexión relacionada directamente con el país o la ciudad donde está pintada.

Pero esta llamada de atención que hace con sus obras no siempre son entendidas o bien recibidas por los organizadores de los eventos en los que pinta, como por ejemplo el mural que pintó hace unos meses para el MOCA en Los Ángeles que fue censurado y borrado por la organización al considerarlo ofensivo ya que la obra reflejaba ataúdes cubiertos de billetes de Dólar frente a un Hospital de veteranos. Personalmente creo que el arte urbano tiene que ser controvertido, que además de embellecer deje mensaje, el punto de vista del autor o una historia sobre la que reflexionar, pienso que mientras más te haga pensar una obra, mejor es, y en esto BLU es genial.
